Susan Yanovski, MD is Director of the Obesity and Eating Disorders Program, Co-Director of the Office of Obesity Research, and Executive Director of the Clinical Obesity Research Panel at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Yanovski received her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed her residency and Fellowship in Family Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine in Philadelphia and a post-doctoral Fellowship in Eating Disorders Research at the National Institute of Mental Health. She is Board-Certified in both Family Medicine and Clinical Nutrition.

Dr. Yanovski is a Fellow of both the Academy for Eating Disorders and the North American Association for the Study of Obesity and has been awarded numerous honors including the National Institutes of Health Award of Merit, the American Academy of Family Physicians’ Outstanding Scientific Paper Award, and the Mead Johnson Award for Graduate Medical Education in Family Practice. Dr. Yanovski serves on the editorial boards of the journals Obesity Research and Eating Behaviors, and she also serves as a reviewer for numerous scientific journals. She has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers, editorials, and book chapters. Dr. Yanovski’s research interests include the prevention and treatment of obesity and the study of binge-eating disorder.
